ALL THAT GLITTERS IS OFTEN SEQUINS

You know it is Christmas when everything shifts from cheery prints and minimalist black to sparkly bits of light gold and green; not just to any setoffs but also to most clothing. But given that I am always on the blithe side of fashion, these blinged-out clothes are apparently lacking in my closet and for some reason, I have not considered wearing one until last week.

Maybe because of its costumey vibe that made me avoid them, but just like with wild and bold prints from head-to-toe, anything sparkly can also be fancy.

The trick is to opt for a muted shade and the one with a good silhouette. On the other hand, if you wanted to sport a two-piece ensemble like mine (yes, it is two-piece), it is okay to go for hip-hugging shorts but never a pair of tight pants – because those are definitely too costumey and over the top. Plus, for pants, I suggest to choose the ones with just minimal embellishments and only consider a neutral palette.

For my blazer, I picked the one that is not too festive and has small sparkly beads to prevent over doing it since I am already wearing a flashy top and a shiny pair of shorts.

So will you consider wearing a glistening ensemble not just this Christmas but also as your everyday outfit? If yes, never forget that sequins are easy and effortless so never overdo it because it might stink in the eyes; better keep it simple and just wear it with neutral palette, and minimal accessories and makeup!
