I may be in love with the beach, but nothing beats the fun of water parks.
What comes to mind when I hear family vacations? Well, remember that time when family vacations were filled with water parks, water slides, family villas, and night swimmings? Those days when Splash Island, Fontana, and Island Cove always fit the bill every time your family plans a weekend getaway? And that moment when the only place for you in the van was your mother’s lap or that little space at the back of the driver’s seat, and you got no choice but to deal with it?
Funny how time flies in a blink of an eye, right? Hence, sometimes, getting that kid in us out for a quick getaway is a breath of fresh air for someone who is too focused on being an adult, which led me to discovering this waterpark and resort in Cebu – JPark Island Resort and Waterpark.
View from our room
What I like about this resort is how it packages everything in one; it is for families, friends and couples. Plus, every room offers good ambiance and view!
Also, it has complete amenities to fulfill the things you expect for a trip:
If you were with your family:
Of course, its waterpark is definitely what makes this place perfect for families, but if you were to ask me what are the things that my family considers before checking in a hotel or resort, I would only say three things: Casino, Private Beach, and Swimming Pool/Waterpark. So, when I learned that JPark Mactan has casino, I immediately messaged my mom (haha) – too bad only foreigners are allowed. On the other hand, for kids, there is a Kids Club in the resort that has playhouse, building bricks, puzzles, and board games! Additionally, there are kid-oriented activities scheduled throughout the day: cooking, painting and swimming – this is a great alternative when you want your kid/s to take a break from the waterpark.
If you were with your friends:
I do not know about you, but whenever I book a trip with my friends, good villas are a must! Hence, when I saw JPark’s villas, first thing I thought of was my “barkada”, most especially that it comes with a swimming pool or a whirlpool bath tub. And when we are together for vacation, fun activities and drinks are definitely not to miss! So, the Game Room, Watersport Activities and Aqus Island Bar really caught my attention!
If you were with your special someone:
As mentioned, JPark offers villas for those who want to have a private swimming pool in their hotel, which makes it fit like a glove for couples for some private moments together. While for some romantic meals or drinks, Coral Seaside Restaurant and Havana by the Sea are certainly the right place for it!
On a different note, Executive Lounge and Business Center is available for business purposes, and Transport Services for car rentals, valet service, airport limousine, and mall drop-off and pick-up services.
Bearing in mind all the activities that you can do in this resort, I will definitely recommend JPark Island Resort and Waterpark for those who already explored Cebu and just planning to have their complete R&R by staying in. With regards to its food, an array of restaurants that serve Mediterranean, Chinese, Korean, Caribbean, Japanese, and Filipino dishes are available. In addition, it also houses a dessert café and an island and pool bar. So, yes, there are a lot of choices and I was glad to have tried some of them!
Here is a fun fact: I really love Filipino dishes! So when we had one in JPark’s Olive restaurant, I had a happy stomach most especially that its food was delish – trust me, I am an expert on this! Plus, a lot of must-try Filipino dishes are here, so better not to miss this!
Coral Seaside Restaurant
As mentioned before, this is one of JPark Mactan’s romantic spots. It has an uninterrupted view of the ocean, and it serves the freshest seafood, and contemporary Mediterranean dishes.
This restaurant serves Chinese dishes and a wide selection of traditional Chinese liquors. In all honesty, Chinese food is the last thing I wanted to eat, but this one is different! It is really good that I have tried different yet excellent Chinese dishes that were prepared by a top chef from Malaysia. And here is what we had, and also, what you should try when you are in Ching Hai: Dimsum Sampler, Duck and Pao (bun), Stuffed Taro, and Mango Sago with Peach Gum.

Havana by the Sea
This is the perfect place to hang out and to grab some drinks with friends, as there is a live entertainment every night while enjoying a platter of seafood, tapas and other Caribbean-inspired dishes. Plus, chilling by the ocean is just so relaxing!
JPark Island’s other restaurants are The Abalone, a buffet restaurant that offers international cuisines: Japanese, Western, and Oriental – this is also where your breakfast buffet takes place; Nonki, for your Japanese cravings; Maru, a go-to place of Korean food lovers; JLounge, for some light snacks and pastries; The Snow, for authentic Korean desserts and snacks; and Aqus Island Bar and Pool Bar for some cocktails, snacks and signature drinks!
Overall, JPark Island Resort and Waterpark has a complete facilities for everyone’s needs, a good variety of restaurant/food choices, and an excellent food that is worth every penny!
