Since pantone announced this year’s color of the year, everything suddenly turned from black and white to sweet, soft hues that even most Instagram feed changed up with times. And as summer/spring begins, there is no denying that these soft colors pretty appeal the season, even to those whose style is not girlish.
The trick starts with balancing the cotton candy colors by matching them with sleek neutrals and/or contrast shades as they tone down the hue a bit and can make your office attire look more professional.
On the other hand, if you want to layer up pastels, remember that they look better when you spice them up with pretty prints. Just do not forget to perfectly match the colors of the prints to your pastel hue and limit yourself to wear only two to three candy colors and then, combine them with neutral shades such as white.
With my outfit, I stick to pale pink with accents of pastel blue prints and opt for mint lace top. Instead of sporting another pastel shade for my bottom, I donned my white denim skirt and just wore my printed pink pair of sneakers to create harmony between colors.
For my bag, I chose to wear my pink purse sling bag to give my plain skirt a touch of color rather than leaving it like a blank space.
But more importantly, keep in mind that never over do it. Give space for balance and never let your whole ensemble have too much sugar high but just bits of powdery color sweets.
