SUIT UP!

I rarely wear suit for meetings and events, but when I do I make sure to think out of the box and style it differently; however, styling it is a bit challenging as it is just a pair of blazer and trousers and the only thing that you can add and change is your inner top and accessories – unless the pair itself is fashionable alone: with unique accents and flawless silhouette and structure.

As a result, with my white vertical striped suit, I added vivid colors of blue and red through my scarf and top. And because I covered some parts that should be left bare such as my neck, I just donned a crop top to give my figure a proper highlight and to avoid overwhelming my petite size as well – sporting a V-neck top with a suit and putting scarf around you neck are also fine.

Other things to keep in mind when choosing suits if you are petite are firstly, pick the suit that falls at or below the hips to give illusion of longer torso while wearing high waist trousers for longer legs; secondly, if you wanted to don structured skirt or dress, opt for the one that falls either at the knee or three inches below or above the knee to prevent overwhelming your petite frame; lastly, vertical stripes such as pinstripes (similar with the one I am wearing) help to elongate your look.

It is better to play around and never be afraid to go outside your limit. Even though it is not the common styling you see, as long as you think that it looks stunning and you feel comfortable, nothing to be afraid of! Just make sure to follow those do’s and don’ts and you are ready to go! And before I forget, remember that above all, your clothes’ silhouette is the most important thing!
