Part of everyone’s trips and adventures are hundreds of selfies, videos and photos, which equivalent to using his or her smartphone every once in a while. So here is the question: is your smartphone secure enough from any damages when it accidentally slipped through your fingers? Same question I asked myself before our Bangkok trip tomorrow, which led me to buying an iPhone case that will protect my phone and a lightning cord that I can depend on.
For my iPhone 6s Plus case, I opted for Speck Candyshell that has dual-layer design, which aims to provide all around protection for my iPhone from its screen to volume keys to power button.
With its rubber interior that absorbs shock and hard outer shell that disperses impact, accidental drops and bumps are fine. And the great thing about it, even if it fell faced down, your iPhone’s screen is still secured, as it will not touch the ground with its raised bezel.
Another thing that I want about this case is how it is not too bulky and how it is lightweight considering that it is 0.16 inches thick. What is more, I like that there is enough room to access the lightning cord and headphone jack. Plus, even though the buttons are covered, they still can be easily pressed.
The only con I noticed is how this case gets scratches too easily, which is fine with me because it is not that showy with the color I picked – there is a version of Speck Candyshell that is matte, so if you hate scratches you should check that out. But other than this, I love everything about this case and I am happy and confident that my iPhone is safe and protected from unfortunate drops like when I am taking selfies and groupies!
On the other hand, for my iPhone’s lightning cord, I bought this Thunderous Lightning Cable from Urbanears. Though there is tougher cord available, I chose this because the Urbanears earphones that I own since 2013 are still in good condition, which made me trust the brand even more. Plus, my friends recommended this as they are also using the same brand.
So here is the good thing about Urbanears cord: first, it is tough but still has light and easy to bend fabric cable with a protective aluminum shield, which is very convenient to use; second, it has strain relief collars making the cable sturdier; third, it takes up no extra space in pocket and travel bag; and lastly, it is tangle free!
I cannot see anything bad about it particularly that it only sells for Php 995. The only thing I know is its sturdy collars will definitely give long-term durability as it is the first thing to break based on my previous lightning cords.
On a different note, if capturing some scenic views is what you do not want to miss when traveling, just like me, Momax X-Lens Case is a must have!
It comes with a case and lens that gives 120 degrees wide angle and 15 times macro! With iPhone’s great camera, this lens makes a very good photo! However, if you are on the go and want a quick capture while moving, using its case is a bit risky because your iPhone is totally not protected. I tried using the lens with my Speck Candyshell case but it ended up having a vignette effect.
Nevertheless, if you really are into photography and your focus is to take good photos using your smartphone, then Momax X-Lens is right for you!
