With the kind of heat that summer brings to a tropical country like Philippines, one thing I rarely wear and would probably never wear: a pair of denim skinny jeans. Because aside from the obvious fact that its fabric is inapplicable to the weather, it makes the heat 3x hotter that results to me having no mood to do anything but stay in an air-conditioned room (seriously). Hence, I never bother wearing one notably on days when I need to run some errands on a summer day and just opt for wearing trousers or crop pants, which I only considered sporting when I was in college – as I was told that crop pants are no-no for petites, until I learned the tricks on breaking the rule without looking like a crystal clear stubborn.
Indeed, pants that hit above the ankle tend to shorten a frame, which gives problem to petites. Little they know, there are still ways to deal with it: donning only the ones with good silhouette and right fit that includes slim cut and fitted pants, and not wearing wide leg opening as it is more shortening. Instead, opt for tapered or straight leg trousers.
On the other hand, for your top, always prefer tops that can highlight your waist and figure such as crop tops and fitted tops. Moreover, tucking in your tops can give slim-fitting silhouette too, while longer and tunic tops are fine as long as your pants have the right fit.
For your shoes, it is okay to wear flats particularly the ones who have longer legs, but if not, increasing your height through heels or wedges is a must!
