If blazers are starting to bore you yet you need that bold, formal accent to keep you look elegant and appropriately dressed for meetings, then long vest is what you should give a try.
Unlike blazer, long vest can be more weather appropriate on rainy season in tropical countries like ours, as these are the days when you get sunny afternoons but rainy evenings. Also, dissimilar from blazer, long vest is versatile to any style and can be fashioned in many different ways: you can wear it with dress, you can easily do layering and you can don it as is and buttoned.
Whatever you prefer, one thing that you should prevent if you are petite like me is to never match it with a pair of wide leg pants as it overwhelms our petite body; what you should keep in mind is to follow the two-thirds-one-third rule: sport a bottom that covers two thirds of your body, that is high waist bottoms in particular, and wear a top that covers one third.
Through this, it will make you look taller and it will create an illusion of longer legs, most especially when you opted for black inner top, skinny pants and heels, like this ensemble that I am wearing.
